Monitoring and Control Subsystem
Provides the processing, display and on-line storage (7 days) of all telemetry
parameters in real-time and near-real-time in support of Columbus system
and payload operations. Further, MCS provides facilities for generation,
handling and forwarding of Columbus system telecommands, loading of Columbus
system on-board files and databases and execution of automated procedures.
MCS provides tools for mission preparation relating to telemetry and telecommand
processing, displays, automated procedures, the Columbus on-board timeline
and the MCS configuration. It will use project developments generated
under the "Columbus Ground Software" (CGS) contract with Astrium GmbH. |

Mission Preparation and Training Equipment-1
The Mission Preparation and Training Equipment (MPTE) is used to prepare,
plan, and support ERA operations and for ERA operator training. Three
identical versions of the MPTE will be installed; at RSC/Energia-MCC;
at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre in Russia, and at ESA/ESTEC in
the Netherlands. The design of the MPTE is based on re-use of the real-time
operations simulation facility EuroSim, including the Image Generation
Subsystem (IGS), and of the Columbus Ground System (CGS). Also, re-use
is made of developments from the ERA projects, both hardware and software.
