Quality Management in Space Propulsion Manufacturing.

Quality management through mechanical inspection, destructive and non-destructive testing.

Our quality assurance includes the following main disciplines:

Bullet Quality engineering that oversees and supervises the performance of processes and their ongoing improvement and refinement.
Bullet Material and component part testing to  ensure that any material defects or inconsistencies are discovered as early as possible.
Bullet Mechanical control specialising in the area of 'visible' testing and examination of component part geometries.

MECHANICAL INSPECTION

Mechanical inspection employs both manual and automated measurement techniques completely integrated within a software environment for detailed documentation. Within this environment, we monitoring every working process, realising constant improvement in product quality. Typical areas of work include:

Mechanical Inspection
Bullet CNC-measuring of work pieces with 3-D measuring machines and computer assisted measuring stations. Database recording of measurements.
Bullet Measurement and checking of surface texture for roughness and waviness.
Bullet Calibration of measuring equipment with database recording of results. Cyclical calibration performed on over 3,000 items of manual measurement equipment.
Bullet Force-lift measurement of spring characteristic curves.
Bullet Incoming goods inspection, checking certificates. Transfer of materials to the appropriate specialist laboratories where necessary.
Bullet Supporting development programmes with measuring equipment first-sample measurement, tolerance verification and methods development.
Bullet Monitoring the precision of production machines by special sample component checks.
Bullet Programming of measurement programs. Software evaluation. Programming measurement on the CAD model (CATIA, VDA, IGES)

FACILITIES
Mechanical inspection facilities include:

Bullet 4 air-cushioned portal measuring machines with a maximum capacity (XYZ axis) of 1,500 x 1,800 x 1,500 mm. Measuring accuracy <4 µm. Machine accuracy and quality constantly controlled by the manufacturer or an internal calibration laboratory; metromec CM 3.3 evaluation software, Silma (off-line programming, CAD models).
Bullet Perthometer S6P (a fixed roughness measuring device). Contacting measurement equipment. Contactless measurements with laser technology.
Bullet Computer-assisted measuring station with infrared scan measuring device for photometric measuring of exterior component part geometries (measuring accuracy < 2µm).
Bullet Form tester MMQ3 true-running measuring device as a computer-assisted measuring station for measuring axial-symmetrical component parts (measuring accuracy approximately 1 µm).
Bullet Approximately 3,000  manual inspection and measurement tools.

ENVIRONMENT

Bullet 3D-CNC measurement of work pieces
Bullet Check of surface quality (roughness and waviness).
Bullet Spring force-lift measurement.
Bullet Comprehensive development programme support.
Bullet Fully integrated in CAX environment.

NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING

Our staff are qualified and certified in conformance with DIN EN 4179, a standard specifically developed for the aviation and aerospace industry.

Materials and Component Inspection is performed using the following Non-destructive Testing services:
