Facilities for the manufacturing and production of satellite propulsion systems

 

The Lampoldshausen facility is Astrium's centre of competence for the production of complete satellite propulsion systems. Here, production resources enable the manufacture, assembly, integration and testing of monopropellant thrusters, bipropellant thrusters, ion thrusters, sub-systems and complete satellite propulsion systems.

Lampoldshausen production facilities are also used for the manufacturing of ground and launch support equipment, as well as hot-fire test stands for monopropellant and bipropellant thrusters, rocket engines and complete propulsion systems.

Clean Room

Clean Room:

  • Better than FED. STD 209 class 100,000.

  • 75 sq. meter working area.

  • Continuous environmental measurement for particles, temperature and humidity.

  • Crane with 3.7 m lifting height and 2 tonnes capacity.

  • Media supply (Helium, Nitrogen, Argon) from supply stations for MSG assembly.

 

Clean Tent

Portable Clean Tent:

  • FED. STD Class 100,000.

  • Size 6 m x 6 m x 4 m.

Pickling Facility:

  • Pickling and cleaning of tubes and components.
  • Hydrofluoric and nitric acid bath with de-ionised water for the preparation of welded joints.
